Sleigh Rides
Looking for a majestic winter sleigh ride in the beautiful Franconia Notch area? Roughly 30 minutes from the resort is Franconia Notch Stables, offering a traditional one-horse sleigh that holds up to 4 adults. Take a ride with the whole family or enjoy a private romantic ride through the snowy trails – making the perfect memory to take home! Pricing can be found at their website below.
Snowshoeing
Around the resort, you’ll find many public trails, including our cart paths! Snowshoeing is a popular activity during the winter our paths allow guests to explore the vast 600 acres of the resort. Enjoy a walk on a bluebird day or under a star-lit sky and surround yourself in the snowy White Mountains. We do not offer snowshoe rentals here on property, BUT our friends 5 minutes down the road at Ski Fanatics do.
Ice Skating
We are excited to see Lake Harold become a top destination for ice skaters and hockey lovers alike as the water turns to ice. Bring your ice skates and even a hockey stick and come carve it up on the lake! Ice levels will be monitored on a daily basis and the lake will be open with conditions permitting. Keep your ear out for upcoming pond hockey tournaments this winter as well!
Snowmobiling
Owl’s Nest is located a mile from the Corridor 11 snowmobile trail system, one of the more popular snowmobile trails that spans from Berlin down to Concord. We offer trailer and sled parking for those trying to ride from the resort this year. When conditions permit, you can access the trail system directly from the resort as well. If you don’t have a sled but want to get out for a ride, we are just 15 miles away from SeldVentures in Lincoln, which offers snowmobile rentals as well as guided/private tours of the area! Enjoy the time you have and get outdoors, with Owl’s Nest as your homebase!

We are partnering with Waterville Valley to provide discounted lift tickets for our resort guests! Enjoy premier White Mountain skiing and luxurious lodging – all in one deal! Waterville’s terrain is perfect for beginners and experts alike, ensuring an exhilarating experience for skiers and riders of all levels. Dog Sledding Tours
If you’re looking for a truly unique winter experience, consider a dog sledding tour! Just under an hour north of us, you’ll find the wonderful people at Muddy Paw Sled Dog Kennel. Muddy Paw offers family-friendly dog sledding adventures for the whole crew! No experience is necessary, ages 2+ are welcome. All proceeds from the sleigh rides go towards the 80 canines that reside at the kennel. Reservations are required and can be made online below!
Guided Winter Hikes
For those craving a more physically demanding adventure, guided hikes are always an option! If you’re looking to get on trail, consider Redline Guiding – a prominent hiking, skiing, and climbing guide located in the Mt Washington Valley. Offering lead adventures for individual and private groups, as well as educational offerings like navigation, mountaineering, camping, winter skills, and more! Slice Pizzeria & Golf Simulators
Looking for some fun on property? We’ve got you covered. Stay tuned for the opening of Slice Pizzeria & Sports Bar this winter! Slice will feature delicious woodfired pizza, 10 TVs, and two state-of-the-art aboutGolf simulators. This will be your new favorite hangout spot on the both the stormy days and the clear ones! Unwind with a cold beer, hot slice of pizza, and hit some balls while you’re at it. The perfect way to end the day.
Outdoor Pool + Jacuzzi
Located right next to the Boathouse is our heated saltwater pool and 15-person jacuzzi perfect for you and the family. It is open year-round and hours will adjust accordingly to the changing seasons. Currently, our pool is open to the public and resort guests. No lifeguard is on duty, please swim at your own risk!
Yoga
We have yoga classes inside our Lakehouse Venue every week on Tuesday mornings from 9:30 – 10:30 am and Wednesday evenings from 6:00 – 7:00 pm. These are hosted by Satya Yoga Studio, if you would like to learn more about the instructor or are interested in checking it out, click the button below!
Platform Tennis
This late Fall and Winter, we are offering paddle clinics for those trying to learn the sport and grow common skills, as well as Round Robins for fun competitions and meeting new players! Our courts are heated making them an all-year court, perfect for the wintertime. Our director of racquets, Cos, will be leading a majority of these clinics so come on by and learn something new. The weekly tournament deadline has ended for the Fall so keep an eye out for Winter tournaments end of December!

We have a top-of-the-line fitness center with new equipment made just for you. Cog Railway
The Mount Washington Cog Railway is an experience for those who enjoy views for miles, learning the history of Washington, and an experience of a lifetime. This time around the locomotives travel to the Waumbek Station which is located at 3,900 ft (Mid-Mountain) and doesn’t travel to the summit. Enjoy an hour-long ride in their biodiesel locomotive and picture-perfect views of Quebec and Vermont in the distance.
