SAY HELLO TO MIKE MACDONALD,
Mike started out in the restaurant industry at the age of 14 working in a small Italian restaurant in Johnston, R.I. This is where he started to develop the skills that would turn into a lifelong commitment to the restaurant/hospitality industry that has so far lasted 45 years.
He attended the University of Rhode Island where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. All set to pursue a teaching career he never left the restaurant industry, working nights while teaching during the day. Mike left teaching to go into Restaurant Management, first with the R.I. chain Newport Creamery for 12 years and then moving on to a 19- year- long career with Applebee’s. During these 19 years, he really grew into the role of General Manager with Applebee’s, learning from the best the New England South region had to offer.
Mike has been here at Owl’s Nest since May of 2020 (why not start a new career path in the middle of a pandemic) and looks forward to everything the future holds for Owl’s Nest and his future here. Over the years the lesson Mike learned is that in this industry the most important aspect is the people, if you treat your guests and your staff properly and with respect, they respond in kind. This carries over to making the guest experience as good as it can get.
