Say Hello To Taylor James,
Our Senior Catering & Events Specialist at Owl’s Nest Resort! Taylor is a passionate young woman who has always had her heart set on wedding and event planning. She describes herself as friendly, detail oriented, attentive, and diligent. She was born & raised in Thornton, New Hampshire, attended the local high school, and in 2020 earned a degree in Event Management with a minor in Marketing at Lasell University in Newton, Massachusetts.
During her four years at university, Taylor was involved in many organizations specific to her field of study and was a proud member of the New England Chapter of the National Association for Catering & Events, and a member of the International Hospitality Management Honor Society, Eta Sigma Delta. She is also a certified Hospitality Department Trainer through the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute, in addition to being certified in AHLEI Leadership, Hubspot, CVENT, Delphi, and Social Tables. In 2019, Taylor also spent six months in Florence, Italy, where she studied Italian hospitality and weddings. Her six months abroad expanded her knowledge for foreign cultures’ wedding traditions, in addition to igniting her love and passion for world travel.
Taylor started her professional career in 2016, as a banquet server for the Common Man, and would occasionally shadow the wedding planner. In 2018, she was the Assistant Wedding Coordinator for Waterville Valley Resort, and the following year, a Wedding Planner’s Assistant in Newport, RI for the reputable company, Em Devaud Events. Most notably, Taylor worked an event with Rafanelli Events as a Production Assistant for the One Dalton Four Seasons Hotel Grand Opening in June 2019.
Taylor then made her way back to Thornton, New Hampshire after finishing her degree in May of 2020. She started in March of 2020 as the Banquet Manager here at Owl’s Nest and was then quickly promoted to Catering & Events Specialist in fall 2020.
In her current role, Taylor works closely with wedding couples at Owl’s Nest to ensure a seamless and exceptional experience for one of the most special days of their lives. Taylor tends to their immediate and long-term needs throughout the wedding planning process through continuous communication and helps to brainstorm exciting and unique ideas for the ceremony and reception, of which she plays a pivotal role in coordinating and orchestrating.
Taylor acts as a resort expert and provides insights into all event spaces, resort activities, and other recommendations for couples. In addition, Taylor works very closely with Owl’s Nest’s Food & Beverage team to curate menus for couples and their wedding parties. And of course, on the wedding day, she is fully present and acts as the couple’s right-hand assistant in the occasion that they need anything at all throughout the duration of their special day.
Taylor helps to see the wedding planning process from the start to the finish, and she is truly a key piece in the exceptional wedding experience that Owl’s Nest is known and loved for. While the process can feel overwhelming at times, Taylor’s love and dedication for the wedding industry, combined with her experience, calmness, and ability to create the perfect day for her couples makes her a valuable part of the Owl’s Nest team.
Taylor is now going on her fifth wedding season with us and continues to exceed client’s expectations in making their wedding dreams become a reality.
